T'kiah, the sound of the shofar wakens my soul from a deep slumber.
T'kiah g’dolah, now I hear the stars sing.

I take this shofar and hold it before me.
Its silent presence awaits my command
to breathe a voice from the sound of its stillness,
to sing a prayer with this horn in my hand.

The shofar blast breaks the peace of the silence.
It stirs my soul with the sound of the wind.
My breath gives life to the voice of the ram's horn,
it sings my grief for the sins that I've sinned.

T'kiah is the sound of our yearning.
Sh'varim, we are broken apart.
T'ruah sings the tears we are weeping.
T'kiah in the depths of our hearts.

And now the fragments are gathered together,
the shattered pieces again are made whole.
The tears we shed blend into a great ocean,
our sorrow heals the wounds in our soul.

And now as silence returns to the shofar,
we pray for healing of all that is torn.
May we be changed by the voice of the shofar,
as from our sleep, we awaken reborn.
